The Deity
Iara was a Tupi warrior so skilled that her brothers tried to kill her out of jealousy. She survived and the moon goddess Jaci transformed her into a river mermaid. She sings from the Amazon and men follow her voice until they drown. Her song is beautiful. That is the problem.
